I thought that would get your attention.....catchy title huh?
We had two used air purifiers delivered to our house today. Air purifiers in China are a must-or so we have been told. WE decided to go top-of-the line and buy some Swiss-made air purifiers called IQ Air Purifiers.....to make a long story short, they are SUPER EXPENSIVE, so we ended up getting a 15% discount by purchasing ones that had been used in the Olympic Village in some of the athletes temporary housing. The guy who we bought them from told Kieran the air filter in his room is the one Michael Phelps had in his room. After reminding Kieran that he saw Phelps swim on TV in the "Americans" --that is what he called the olympics---he got a kick out of it.
so anyway-we finally have clean air that we will be breathing at least during the time we are either sleeping or in our rooms. WE have decided to move the boys to one room rather than having the purifier run in the hallway between the rooms. We will move Kellan's crib tomorrow and hopefully move him into a bed soon. It should be interesting...the two boys in one room. We may have to plan bedtime a little differently. The second air purifier is in our bedroom upstairs. Good investment for our health.
Today in school i got to be a part of something very special. Our ENTIRE middle school participated in what is called the "Terry Fox Run." It is a fundraiser for Cancer Research named after a 22 year-old Canadian who lost his life to cancer while he was raising money running across Canada after having his let amputated. He ran for over 140 days before he had to stop b/c the cancer which was in his leg had spread to his lungs. He later died that year.
It was truely amazing to ssee the spirit alive in the kids. The kids were divided into eight different regious from around the world-and they had colored shirts that matched their region. Each region had a contest to see who could bring in the most money. I was a member of the North Asia group. We will find out tomorrow which region won. The entire student body of the middle school ran two laps around our school's campus. I think someone said it was about a 3K...a pretty big deal for many people to run this far. It was incredible! i didn't bring my camera-but there were plenty of cameras there, so i will have to steal someone's pictures. Tomorrow the Upper Elementary (Riley's class) and Lower Elementary (kieran's class) do the same thing. I think they run 1 lap or a modified course? Riley has his schedule rearranged so he can run with kieran and i think i may try to sneak down there too----then riley runs with his class later that day. ISB was the single largest donator last year to the Terry Fox Run and we are hoping to be again! Truely great to see our learning community give back...we are lucky to be a part of that.
Right now kellan and i are sitting watching Baby Songs....not sure why but he really cried when i put him down tonight. he usually goes right down. I think he has been pretty worn out lately-he has playdates set up mon-thurs which he is loving! i wish i could be here to see him---i think there is one other kid as big as he is but the other 2 are a little younger.
Tomorrow is our last day of school for a while--next week is some type of Chinese National Holiday so we have monday and tuesday workshop days and then wed-fri off. We are thinking of it as an early MEA break!
We are going to go shopping this weekend for camping gear b/c there is a group of about 40 people going camping next week. We are going to try it-we will see. Worst case we end up having to drive back early (or have someone drive us back ---we should have our car by the end of the weekend).
so anyway-we should get a chance to go and venture out inthe next week or so.
WE miss you all and look foward to hearing how everyone is doing!
Love
Kellan and Crew
